Dr. Ashley Watson
Dentist
BDS Lond 1992, LDS Royal College of Surgeons of England 1993
Ashley qualified as a general dentist at King’s Dental Institute in 1992 and went on to run a successful private practice from 1996 to 2015, which was acquired by Bupa Dental Care.
Ashley has been placing implants since 1994 and holds a diploma in Dental Implants from the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh, and an MSc degree in Implantology from the Institute of Clinical Excellence at Salford University. His research is based on his clinical practice of placing implants.
Ashley uses technology, digital planning and digital manufacturing techniques for precise implant placement. He is a mentor for implant dentists wanting to improve their skills and holds a study club for other implant dentists, striving to improve understanding and clinical outcomes.
Whilst most of his practice is implant-based, his wide knowledge of dentistry allows him to offer a holistic approach to every patient he consults. He has been privileged enough to work with mentors in New York, Dusseldorf and Brisbane, and regularly travels internationally to keep up to date.
Ashley has previously trained UK undergraduate students on a field trip to Ghana and participated in a voluntary trip providing dental aid to Syrian refugees in Greece. Every two years, Ashley cycles 500 miles for oral health charities and has raised over £200,000 with the help of his colleagues.
Ashley also sits in several focus groups, discussing the future of implant provision, mentoring programs, and the use of dental technology and software.
