Ensure your child maintains healthy teeth by bringing them to routine dentist check-ups right from when their first tooth comes through.
Your child’s routine check-ups
When your child attends their first visit, they’re unlikely to open their mouth for the dentist – which is completely normal! Their first few appointments are more for establishing trust between dentist and patient, helping your child to get used to the dental practice surroundings and build their confidence.
Once your child is comfortable being examined, we can check their teeth over.
Their routine check-ups will consist of the following:
- Checking for signs of decay.
- Check for signs of gum disease.
- Make sure their teeth are erupting correctly and that their bite is normal.
- Encouraging them to brush twice a day at home (once they are old enough to do this independently).
Supporting parents and children alike
We’re here to support both children and parents – we get that it can feel overwhelming when a child doesn’t want to brush their teeth or keeps badgering you for the sugary food and fizzy drinks!
Our dentists at The Beresford Clinic are great with kids, helping them to understand the importance of regular brushing and maintaining a healthy diet. We can offer advice on how to keep them motivated to brush at home, so please remember you’re not alone – do ask your child’s dentist here at The Beresford Clinic for advice if you need it.
